who pays plumbing services tenant or owner?

by admin on July 23, 2010

in california: if you are living in an inlaw apartment and your bath gets clogged with hairs by law does the owner of the place or the tenant pay for plumbing services?

What does your lease say? Usually the owner is responsible for repairs. I’m not sure what an "inlaw apartment" is but if you mean an apartment above or behind a house I would still think it is the owner’s responsiblity but your lease would hold the answer.

don’t know about california laws. but generally you would have to pay for your hair clogging the drain. if the drain was broken or defective and caused the clog, the owner would pay for it.

Read your rental agreement or lease. The contract should spell out what you are responsible for and what the landlord is responsible for. Verbal agreements mean nothing but rental agreements and leases are binding contracts which can be enforced.

Depends on what your lease or rental agreement states. I would think that this kind of maintenance should be performed by the tenant. If the plumbing is defective or in disrepair, then by all means it is the landlord’s responsibility. But it would seem that a simple hair clog in the bath that is caused by *your* hair would be your responsibility to take care of. Try a plunger first, and some drain cleaner.

THE OWNER HAS TO PAY FOR ALL OF HOME REPARES. BUT ITS YOUR INLAWS WHICH MIGHT JUST MAKE IT A LIL MORE UNCOFTRABEL TO ASK FOR THE REPAIRS TO BE DONE. BUT WHY SHOULD YOU PAY FOR IT YOU DONT OWN THE PLACE. JUST NEXT TIME TRY TO PREVENT IF FROM HAPPING BUT BUYING NETS FOR THE TUB AND SINK SO THE HAIR DOSNT CLOGE AGAIN. YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO PAY FOR THE NETS THE OWNER DOSE, EVEN A LIGHT BALB THE OWNER HAS TO BUY. BUT SOME PEPOLE DONT HAVE THE GUTS TO ASK FOR SMALL THING LIKE THAT. BUT YOU ONLY HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PAYING YOUR RENT. AND IF YOUR LANDLORD DOSNT WANT TO PAY FOR REPAIRS CALL AND COMPLAIN TO HUMAN RESOURES.

find a wooden dowel rod about the size of a pencil ,,put it into the drain as far as you can, turn it, try to wrap hairs around it pull out,you might improve it by cutting a few splinters into the end for the hair to catch on………………tom
